The organization was inaugurated on 2nd April 1995. As a small step towards the path leading to the above goal of us "SAMARPANA" has established the following two residential centres for the targeted community we plan to serve:

1. "THE NEST" - Home for Spastics.
2. "THE RAINBOW" Home for Mentally retarded.

In these two centres children and adults from socially and weaker section are admitted and they are provided with specialized services like Physiotherapy, Speech therapy, Special education, Pre-vocational and Vocational training by specially trained and highly dedicated persons.

A part of these two residential centers, Samarpana is running a Day-care centre named "NIDHARSHANA" for Spastics and Mentally retarded children living in the neighborhood of its centre who may not qualify for admission into its residential centres. The parents of these children are given free consulting and small tips for bringing up their children.

We also conduct "Social awareness campaigns" to make the society understand the problems of the Spastics and other handicapped children. This is done by organizing meetings, cultural shows, sports etc., for these special and disabled children.

FUNDS FOR THE CURRENT ACTIVITIES:

Funds for the above activities are generated by donations in cash and kind from our own members, Philanthropists, Educational Institutions and other casual donors.

We have received FCR No. from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, in the year 1999 which enable us to receive donations from abroad.

GOALS OF OUR NEW PROJECTS:

We plan to start several sheltered Workshops as mentioned below:
1. Special carpentry unit for manufacturing special toys, tables, chairs, and other special furniture for the exclusive use of these special children.
2. Greeting cards and Envelopes making unit.
3. Chalk piece making unit.

The main aim of starting these units is to rehabilitate these special children and adults by giving them vocational and occupational training to manufacture products which require minimum mental ability.

All these projects are planned to be run a permanent basis without any time limit since these will provide training and livelihood for the Spastics and Mentally retarded children and adults of our centre who will remain with us for the rest of their lives. Hence it is not possible to fix any definite time-frame for the completion of the projects to be undertaken by us.
